Students in kindergarten were introduced to the role of the school counselor. They discovered many different items (with their corresponding character traits and skills) that a school counselor needs in their "bag of tricks".

Students in 2nd grade learned how to handle conflict (when someone is "bugging" them) with The Debugging System.

Debugging System

Students are taught and encouraged to use I-Statements to share their feelings with others. I-Statements, also known as Heart Statements, give students the word structure they need to "speak from their hearts".


During National Bullying Prevention Month, the school counselors taught lessons on bullying prevention. Students learned ways to identify bullying and strategies that can to used to end that type of behavior.
